Judith Roderick: Bowerbirds

August 5– 31

Bowerbirds is an exhibition of Judith Roderick’s colorful, hand-painted, embellished, silk art quilts in various sizes. These quilts are a reflection of her joy in collecting and arranging objects and in embellishing – a joy she shares with the bowerbirds. In creating these paintings, she is not just an artist, but a participant in the bowerbirds’ world, helping them choose how to create their bowers and decorate them. Hear more stories at the Artist reception Saturday, August 16, 1-3 pm.

FEATURED ARTIST: KELLI COOPER

Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Kelli comes from a long line of teachers and creatives. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of New Mexico and lives and works in Albuquerque. Her mixed media artwork has always been process oriented and experimental. Her work uses a broad spectrum of mediums- anything from collage, old books, and ink to house paint.

Kelli’s work typically could be categorized as Figurative Expressionism and has been described as unselfconscious, relatable, and delightfully dark and twisted. Kelli’s art has a whimsical style and poignant voice; she brings the viewer in by connecting through relatable characters and shared emotional experience. She has numerous collectors all over the United States and abroad.
