CHRISTIAN MICHAEL GALLEGOS

Christian Michael Gallegos is an artist with many large-scale murals in the Albuquerque area, including an installation in the lobby of the City of Albuquerque's Arts & Culture Department. His works are a colorfully exuberant melding of imagery from his childhood in the urban environment of New York City and his New Mexican roots and reflect both experience as a street artist and a graphics and fine art education at the Bronx Community College. Through his paintings, Christian presents new ideas, inspiration, and messages for his audience. Ghostwolf invites you to meet the artist this first Friday ARTScrawl. See you there!

The Groove is hosting a children's Art Show and Fundraiser, "Christina Kent Grooves with Art" on May 23! (Promo coming soon!) We are inviting the public to come and enjoy the art made by the pre-k kids at Christina Kent and support this wonderful 100-year-old downtown preschool which is raising money to expand their facilitites and services.  We would also LOVE to solicit any art-related donations from the ABQ arts community to raise money for this historic downtown preschool.  Do you have any suggestions??

In cooperation with the AABA, the Hotel Andaluz hosts quarterly exhibitions that showcase work from local galleries. The hotel gallery is on the mezzanine alongside the Ibiza Lounge, one of three hotel dining experiences. The current exhibition features select works by Caitlin Padilla, Catalina Salinas, George H. Hayes III, Karl Hofmann, Richard Irwin, Riha Rothberg, Rocky Norton, and Victoria Mauldin. This exhibition is on view from May 10 through July 15, 2024. 516 ARTS present Art as Eco-Activism, a Public Forum at 6pm on May 16, 2024. Geohaptics: Sensing Climate closes with a panel discussion involving a selection of artists included in the exhibition with curator Daniela N. Molnar. Heidi Gustafson, Jason Francisco, Sarah Gerats, and Carol Padberg will discuss the themes of the exhibition and their process, and how ecological activism can be exemplified by and through art.

This series of drawings, inspired by So Yun-bok's pen and ink depictions of daily life, are  in his grandfather's memory and the memory of all 800 Navajo soldiers who served in Korea and those who continue to serve.  Join us for specialty coffee and cookies on this First Sunday event May 5, 10 am to 2 pm.
