Ghostwolf Gallery is delighted to bring the work of Michael Fitzhugh Wright to Old Town Albuquerque. An abstract expressionist painter, Michael is one of the few remaining members of the New York School, having been a friend and colleague to Jackson Pollock, Franz Kline, and David Smith in the famous days of the Cedar Bar and Eighth Street Art Club. Michael studied with Paul Brach, was an assistant to Willem de Kooning, and has had an impressive career spanning almost 70 years.  Placitas printmaker Evey Jones and sculptor Sara Lee D’Alessandro of Cuba, New Mexico, are featured artists in N4th Gallery for September and October. The subtle colors of the exhibit provide commonality in what is otherwise an exhibition of contrasts in both media and scale. Wild Hearts Gallery in Placitas presents Laura Robbins: Toward Water featuring mosaics created with unique, hand formed ceramics along with fused, cast and cut glass. This body of work was created before and after a recent visit to the Big Island of Hawaii. Exhibit dates: September 5-October 1 with an artist’s reception Saturday, September 9, 1-4 pm. KELLI JUDKINS-COOPER

Kelli Judkins-Cooper has been busy preparing for her solo show entitled “For the Birds”. It will be held at O’Niell’s Pub Nob Hill Location and is opening September 24. It will be Chock-full of her poignant whimsical birds as well as two huge collaborative pieces she created with Maewyn Padilla. You won’t want to miss this show.

In addition to her show at O’Niell’s Pub, Kelli will have several pieces of work on the walls of the Orpheum Hub Community Center for Artwalk September 8 in the Burque Bombshells Pin-Up Art Show. This will also be an event not to miss with great art, music, and food.

SANDIA HEIGHTS ARTISTS STUDIO TOUR

Saturday & Sunday September 9th & 10th

The Sandia Heights Artists Studio Tour will be held September 9 & 10, 2023 in the Sandia Heights neighborhood located near the intersection of Tramway and Paseo Del Norte (follow the signs). Fifty accomplished artists will participate at 15 locations in a compact neighborhood nestled in the foothills.

This year marks the twentieth anniversary of this free event, and it is bigger than ever. The artists, many of whom are award-winning, will show their work big and small ranging from pottery to painting, woodworking to wearable creations, and jewelry to algorithm art, just to name a few. Come with curiosity and leave surprised at the range and quality of the artists. You might find an irresistible piece to enhance your home, to gift, or even to immediately wear! In cooperation with the AABA, the Hotel Andaluz hosts quarterly exhibitions that showcase work from local galleries. The hotel gallery is on the mezzanine alongside the Ibiza Lounge, one of three hotel dining experiences. The third exhibition in 2023 features select works by Amy Michelle Ditto, Gwen Entz Peterson, Rene Marz Mullis, Roberta Parry, Sarah Blumenschein, and Tom Cassidy.
