OUTSIDE THE LINES: An Exhibit by The 9X9 Artists
Enjoy the wide-ranging art of 10 New Mexico artists, in the spacious exhibiting hall at AAPAC, from landscape, portrait, expressionism, and abstraction in painting, collage, print, drawing, sculpture, and found objects. Albuquerque art educators and professionals present a colorful and engaging display, with striking visuals, social commentary, and innovative artistic imagery and design. 9X9 has been showing together at AAPAC and other venues for 5 years. The opening will be accompanied by jazz music from the Trio Monte Alba. COUNTERPOINT: A Juxtaposition of Media and Meaning

Featuring concurrent shows by two Albuquerque artists: “Semaphore,” a multi/mixed media installation by Bruce Davis, and “Inside the Blue Studio,” a selection of works by painter and printmaker LaVerne Harper. An ancillary exhibit in Gallery X features earlier works and the origins of the artists’ ideas. To show the totality of his work with light and sound, Davis is presenting a Semaphore Transception Event in N4th Gallery on Friday, June 23, 9–11pm.

2023 LOCAL TREASURES AWARDS

Reception: June 4th (1-3pm) at the Albuquerque Museum

 

For the 14th year, the Albuquerque Art Business Association will honor area artists who not only excel in the arts, but who have given back to their communities by sharing their time, talent, and passion. We will celebrate our 2023 awardees with a reception at the Albuquerque Museum on Sunday, June 4th from 1-3pm. Artist B.C Nowlin will be the featured guest speaker. The 2023 recipients are: Marcella Boushelle (The Gallery ABQ), Myra Gadson (Yucca Gallery), Kei & Molly Textiles (Weems Gallery & Framing), Alex Peña (Gallery Hozho), Rick Snow (Ghostwolf Gallery), & Pam Troutman (Amapola Gallery).

In addition to the Treasures awards the organization has also awarded retired president Carol Estes-Nowlin the President’s Award for her long years of service and dedication, creative ingenuity, and outstanding contributions to the local arts community. In cooperation with the AABA, the Hotel Andaluz hosts quarterly exhibitions that showcase work from local galleries. The hotel gallery is on the mezzanine alongside the Ibiza Lounge, one of three hotel dining experiences. The first exhibition in 2023 features select works from Amapola Gallery, Yucca Gallery, and Ghostwolf Gallery. This exhibition is on view through April 10. Street, garage, and valet parking are available at the Copper Avenue entrance to the hotel.
