Charles (Bud) Edmundson: watercolor, pastel and oil paintings
Born in Clayton, New Mexico, Bud Edmondson decided at an early age become an artist, not a cowboy. He now devotes full time to his painting, although he also teaches and gives workshops. Although adept at several media, watercolor is his favorite. “It allows me to combine draftsmanship and spontaneity” he says. He is a firm believer in painting on location, really getting a feel of the place. He maintains a studio with The Artist Studio, a group of 13 artists who share studio space.

Edmondson has been a community minded person from the day he moved back to New Mexico. He became involved in the New Mexico Watercolor Society as a volunteer to help coordinate their two annual shows and has done this since 1994. When he decided to try

pastel as a medium, he joined the Pastel Society of New Mexico and has helped make their annual show a national award winning exhibition with entries from all over the U.S. More recently he has joined the Rio Grande Artists Association to further his interest in oil painting and volunteers his efforts to this group as well. He has been honored with Signature Membership in both the New Mexico Watercolor Society and the Pastel Society of New Mexico and has received numerous other awards for his work. Albuquerque is becoming recognized as an art destination because of the efforts of volunteers like Bud Edmondson who strive to improve the quality of art, the knowledge of the public, and awareness of Albuquerque’s many Local Treasures.

Edmondson’s work can be seen in the Rod Hubble Gallery in Santa Fe, the Varient Gallery in Taos, and Framing Concepts Gallery in Albuquerque.

There will be an exhibition of Edmondson’s work at Framing Concepts Gallery in September 2008 with an artists reception on Friday, September 12, 5-8pm
